summer peace

We have our first east coast visitors and we are loving their company.
Mimi is especially fond of Bucky's brother, Waid, who has been very generous with loving on her. Waid and Mr Ryan have been enjoying the cool summer mornings (60's) and the ideal fishing weather.

Sitting on the porch at dusk, sleeping with the windows open, mowing the lawn in the sun, drinking coffee as I watch Otis and Mimi snuggle... It has been a beautiful summer.

The Fourth

It was a beautiful Fourth of July weekend spent in Jackson, Wyoming and the surrounding areas. RVs slowed the traffic on one lane roads in and out of the National Parks and we took in the sites with no complaints.

Our great friends who live in Jackson were vacationing and they generously offered for us to housesit in exchange for watering their plants. Hiking around Jenny Lake in Teton National Park, watching fireworks against the backdrop of Teton Village in Jackson, and fishing the Henry's Fork in Last Chance, all in time to make it to Idaho Falls on Monday to watch the "most spectacular fireworks show west of the Mississippi".

Henry's Fork

Buck's friend Jeff from Maine has driven out West for the summer, bringing our friend count to double digits!

Sunset on the Henry's Fork made up for all the fish I missed/lined/spooked

I witnessed my first hatch of these insects, the Gray Drakes. Even though they were a good size, I didn't mind them covering my arms and back after seeing how much the fish enjoyed eating them (Bucky also informed me they don't have mouths, so they are incapable of biting me)

Easy Livin'

Spent last weekend in Sun Valley and Picabo (pronounced "peek-a-boo"), Idaho. We are loving the summer weather and are enjoying it now as we spend the fourth of July weekend in Jackson, Wyoming.

Life out west in the summer is easy to love.
